Chevon Underwood, Chief Financial Officer

Chevon Underwood is a finance and operations leader with extensive experience in business administration, organizational systems, and community impact. She currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer for Athena Construction, where she oversees budgets, financial infrastructure, HR operations, and organizational planning. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Philander Smith University (formerly Philander Smith College).

Chevon’s career began at the age of sixteen working in customer service and frontline operational roles. While she did not start in leadership positions, those early years shaped her strategic understanding of business. She gained a deep appreciation for how companies function from the inside out – where customers, processes, systems, and people intersect. Those experiences became the foundation of her financial and operational leadership style, which prioritizes efficiency, service, and people-first business design.

For Chevon, community is more than a value – it is a lifelong commitment. She has been volunteering since childhood and has continued serving in programs focused on workforce development, youth support, and underserved communities. She has been actively involved alongside Power2Workers, contributing to community outreach, workforce events, fundraising initiatives, and programs that improve access to resources and economic opportunities.

Her leadership philosophy is rooted in service, empathy, and equity. She believes financial systems and community development go hand-in-hand and that strong organizations are built by combining professional expertise with compassion, clarity, and structure.

Chevon brings experience in financial stewardship, operational systems, organizational growth, and community partnership to every role she serves. She is committed to advancing economic opportunities, building sustainable systems, and continuing her work to uplift communities through access, empowerment, and strategic leadership.
